Welcome back to another post of One-Ingredient Wonders!
The food world has a solution to the classic I-can’t-find-any-cheap/easy-food-anymore problem, that you probably don’t know about. I am here to share that solution with you. Should you have to pay $14 for a good meal? This is a recipe that takes less than five minutes, cost less than 50 cents per serving, and is absolutely delicious. So what’s the secret?
Today’s Spotlight: Tomato, Basil, and Bocconcini
Main Ingredient: Tomato
You are having your friends over for dinner and for appetizer, you give them a plate of T.B.B. (tomato, basil, bocconcini). They love it, and they love it even more when you tell them that one serving cost less than 50 cents. Next, they’re having it at every dinner party they host. It isn’t even just an appetizer. I ate it as an after lunch snack.
- 3 slices of tomato
- 4 basil leaves
- 1 ball of bocconcini
- Olive oil
This is seriously as easy to make as breakfast cereal is to pour. First, take one tomato and cut three thin slices. Put the slices on the plate. Then, cut up the bocconcini and place those on the tomato slices. After that all you need to do is put three whole basil leaves on top, and rip up the fourth. Put the pieces on the plate, add salt and pepper, drizzle a bit of olive oil, and you’re done!
